Returning a parcel back to asda

Not so much a consumer rights but wasn't sure where to post - feel free to move if in the wrong forum
I purchased 2 sets of plastic drawer storage from Asda direct and had them delivered to the local store.
When I got home, I unwrapped them only to find one of them has a crack in it and the quality of them is very poor - compared to the ones I purchased previously.
I want to return them but do I have to re-wrap them with their bubble wrap or do I show the broken item to those in store and they re-wrap them?

Have you used the bubble wrap for something else?
Have you checked the returns policy? It should say whether you can return to the store or not. If you can, it might be easier to take the item back to the store and say you're returning it. If they don't accept returns in store, you're going to need to post them back. As they're faulty you can return under the SOGA rather than the DSR. The advantage of doing this is that you can ask Asda to pay the cost of returning them. Under the DSR you'd have to pay yourself (although you'd get the P&P back).

I'd wrap the original package around it, but in a way easily removed if the store wanting to inspect them.0

You can use Collect+ to return for free, just use the form provided with the goods - this is quicker than dealing with the store which will still have to return it for you.0

Might be better taking back to the store, I had a blouse delivered that had been stood on at the warehouse (great big dirty boot mark, small hole and broken hanger) I wasn't bothered as I didn't like it, but when I returned it and marked the returns form as damaged the assistant called a manager.
I expected a "we didn't do this can you prove it-were going to charge you" conversation-but she asked him to offer me compensation!!!

I've always had fantastic customer service from Asda. Most recently, bought some trolleys for my little boy, used the self-service till but somehow managed to take the receipt of the person in front of me. Wanted to change said trousers because they didn't fit his big fat arse, and thought this would be a problem without the receipt. Nope, not in the least.
