Is this the biggest Saving Yet

Hi Guys

Just thought that I would pass on my home building and contents insurance saving to you. Renewal came through from Nationwide at £602 PA, went onto confused.com as recommended by Moneysaving Expert and got quote from e-sure for £170 PA. Caveat is that I paid all upfront as instalments added a few quid and now have a £350 excess. I would never claim for small amounts in any case as they will only get it back in increased premiums the following years.

Saving £432 what a result!

Happy days :j

Please ensure your sums insured are correct, esure have a reputation for quoting on low sums insured and then when you make a claim enforcing "underinsurance" which results in reductions in your claim or in many cases them refusing the claim and voiding the cover.

    I agree.

If you save that on a like for like basis, great.

If you have traded a higher excess for a lower premium, that's fine but what did Nationwide offer you for the same excess as you've now taken?

If you had gone through Quidco you would've saved another £45.

You have increased the excess and possibly changed the sums assured and ALSO you may not be receiving the added bits of cover - trace and access (quite important in my opinion), emergency cover, away from home cover, legal cover - the devil is in the detail, cheapest is great but when you come to claim i know i would rather have a decent policy and not the cheapest.

Im not saying the policy is not worth the paper its written on as i genuinely dont have a clue, but too many people get caught up in price - you could be comparing a vauxhall nova (esure) to a porsche (nationwide) - you should be checking the cover, not the price.

Personally i dont sell cheap cover - you could argue that means im earning more, but i actually earn less as i sell less policies. I dont want people coming back complaining i sold them a dud product and would rather earn less but keep my reputation intact.

Congrats if you genuinely have saved money and took out a good policy.
