Vauxhall Corsa- 3 weeks/Multiple Issues

Options
Afternoon to you all,

I bought what I thought was a lovely Corsa on 31/5. It is an 08, 1.3 CDTi, SXi Variant with 27k on the clock. I bought from a Vauxhall dealership and screen price was £6500, I however paid £6000 made up of £1350 part ex, £1800 cash and rest on my Barclaycard Credit Card.

Day after purchase car took 3 attempts to start, I rang the dealer, they booked it in for a look in 10 days time, staying it was probably down to the fact they'd had it since March and it hasn't been driven. At that point it would start & drive but noticed the following other faults during the course of that weekend:
Clutch judder and sticking clutch pedal
Brakes squealing as if the pads were gone
Doors rattling

On 3/6, I was out shopping and returned to the car, it wouldn't start, AA came and recovered it back to the dealer. The problem was found to be a wiring loom, the part would take 4-5 days to arrive. In the interim they said they'd get on with the other bits. They found the door rattle was down to loose locks, they found the clutch judder and said they'd fix that and the car also was in need of new front pads. I assumed that as they said they'd fix these, they would.

The wiring loom arrived from Holland and they found they'd been sent the wrong one, so another 5-7 day wait for the right one. Assured the other bits had been done.

Manager very apologetic, nice chap must say, offered to put an extra years warranty on the car and a full tank of diesel as way of an apology. All happy.....or so I thought.

I finally got my car back this morning, on the way home the clutch got stuck down, got it back up to the normal position by sort of kicking it up, it came back into the normal position and was useable but then it developed the judder it had had before, as I was pulling away from the traffic lights & then the brakes started grinding.

As I was closer to home than the dealer, I got the car home, made my hubby drive it round the block, not saying what was wrong but just said 'you have a drive see if it is ok' and he came back and 'back brakes are grinding & your clutch isn't right, still'.

I rang the dealership again, spoke to a service agent who said he had done the loom but he didn't do anything else, he wasn't sure if anyone else had, they may have done, apparently but he didn't know.

The manager was in a meeting so I spoke to the deputy manager. He said that the car was OK when it went out and it is either me being picky or driver error but said he would of course let the manager know and he would call me at 3.

Still waiting & have made 2 calls to chase already.

I really like the car, it's a great spec, low miles but I'm sick of the issues already. I bought the car because I'd had a promotion at work which meant I needed to be out and about a lot, including supplier meetings at 168 mile trip each way.

I was assured the car was repaired and running A1, but it's not. I'm reticent to allow them to have the car yet again, but equally I do like the car and I would be hard pushed to find the same car in their group stock.

I jokingly said if it had any issues with it again, I'd be brining it back for my money back, but realistically is this an option?

Having spoken to Vauxhall customer service, they say no, I've accepted the repair and should allow them time to repair again, I don't have much confidence in their repairs now though.

I feel I'm caught in a situation where I have a car, which isn't really as I thought it would be, having only had it for 3, almost 4 days in the 3 weeks.

I am seriously thinking of just asking for another car or money back but how likely is it they will oblige? I was fully expecting the clutch/brake repairs to have been done, it is obvious they haven't.

I really don't know what to do.

Try to collect all your paperwork to review. There should be something detailing what their service promise is to you.

If you bought the car and can't even drive it, i'd have a good sit down with the manger. He sounded from your post? You bought a product and it hasn't worked as advertised. I'm not sure on the legal stance but I'd say it's in your favour.
  • Car broke down with same fault the day after posting the above.

Asked for my money back, they said give us 5 days to find a replacement vehicle, I agreed.

Replacement vehicle hasn't been found, so off tomorrow to try & get my money back, wish me luck!
