Credit card help

Hiya
My son is at uni and has a Barclaycard which he owes about £3500 on. He is paying a large interest rate and can only afford the minimum payments each month - unfortunately this is crippling him. The balance never seems to go down and I was wondering if anyone knew of an alternative card that he could perhaps switch to ? He is 21 and works when he comes home for the uni breaks, he has only just started doing this as he was on incapacity benefit for Aspergers syndrome which was taken off him last year. He is working full time at the moment until he goes back in September. Could he switch cc providers even though his work isn't continuous ???
Thankyou

Since he's a student, he should probably go to a debt adviser (either at his Students' Union or the CAB https://www.adviceguide.org.uk) and do a financial statement making a minimal offer to repay per month. Barclaycard should also stop adding interest to the account whilst a payments are being made if he goes this route.0
