Changing Property Manager...too easy?

Hi all,
We have had some trouble over the last few years with our property manager, general sloppy service and issues with (huge) deficits at year end.
Being a large new build block of flats, we assumed that the only real way of changing the property manager was to RTM, costing money and (a lot) time, or lobbying the freeholder.
However, we have now been put on the board of the management company, something which the property manager was more than happy for use to do...and my assumption is I can now changing the property manager as we effectively employ them. It seem's too easy?
Am I missing something?
