Reclaiming PPI from old Alliance & Leicester Account

Hi can anyone please help, I want to reclaim mis-sold PPI from an old Alliance & Leicester account, but understand they have been taken over by Santander. Does anyone have the contact details of who I should write to.

Many thanks.

Santander. Go to the website, there's a section on who to send it to for a PPI complaint.
Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi
  • What sort of timescale are you trying to complain for?

I have a current complaint re series of abbey loans 1994 complete with statements

Do you have any documentation as unlikely Santander will

Don't worry too much if you don't have older statements.

The former Abbey archive is one of the longest held in the country (1920s!), with an accessible file system (as per the DPA) available from 1964 - as long as you have an account number.

Some are getting mixed results when performing a SAR for older Abbey information, in some cases information has been sent without problem, in other cases they've written back advising they don't hold information past 6 years, but they tend to back down if you persevere.
    Competition wins:
    2010 - approx £450. 2011 - approx £800. 2012 - approx £300. 2013 - nothing so far!
  • There in lies my problem

I have all the statements showing direct debits to abbey national personal loan. But no loan reference next to debit on my statements

Sar to santander drew a blank

How long ago did you do your SAR? Is the 40 days up?

If so, write back to them advising them that they have failed to comply with your SAR and have not supplied all information.

Santander are very stubborn and will insist that they do not have to supply anything past 6 years. The letter is normally carefully worded - it never says that no information exists. It may involve referring to the ICO, who will decide if Santander have complied fully with your SAR. In some cases the referral alone has been enough for Santander to take another look and suddenly 'find' the missing information.

I've just re-read your original post, and you mentioned Alliance & Leicester. I've had difficulty getting A&L information from Santander, but in my case they failed to supply information from the present time advising that no information existed. It's only when I forwarded on to them a photocopy of a 4 year old statement that they admitted that they hadn't looked properly. I've now had a call to advise that not only do they have the information on A&L's pre-Santander system, but have been able to find copies of my statements from 1992 when I opened the account. I should have them in my hands in the next few days.

    Hi there

I hope somebody can help me.

I had a loan from Alliance and Leicester and all I can remember is that it was during the latter part of the 90's. I have no information regarding the loan, but as I took out PPI on other accounts before and during that time, I'm presuming that I did the same with this loan.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction as to whether it's worth contacting them and if so, how and where do I write to?

    Thanks

If you have no info regarding this loan, neither will Santander I am afraid.
You will have to let it go.
