yeh its me again asking more questions, sorry, but this seems like the place to get advice

i was almost made up in my mind about going for a 1.8 ford focus, or maybe a 2l. but yesterday my friend asked me if i had ever considered a mazda 3 before, ive been looking at them, they look pretty nice, seems ill get a good quality car for my budget of £5000, but there seems to be alot more on the internet about the focus, so im just wondering, what do people think is the better car of the two?

The Focus is the better car. They are practically the same underneath apart from the better rear suspension on the Focus.
What happened about the one in Lichfield?

As said, they are essentially the same car.

check the insurance really. You might find a difference there. Randomly Honest john claims the 3 depreciates slower than the focus but says it is avery sorted car as they had three years to tweak the Ford design before they released the car.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

At the risk of inviting lots of contrary opinions, there are very few intrinsically bad cars these days - certainly not new/nearly new.

There are differences in suitability for different tasks, liefstyles and budgets, sure. But the brand-wide, or model-wide flaws of the past are few and far between in my experience.

still thinking about it, but me and my girl spoke and we kinda think 67 k is abit too many, considering whatever car i get next i hope to keep for atleast 3 years, and i would like to be selling whatever r i get next with under 80k miles, it is a very tempting car though, cant help but think to myself it may be abit too good to be true, and its like a 200mile drive from me, wouldnt want to go all that way to find i dont want the car

but its the car at the top of my list to be fair

Fair enough, thought you lived local. It's a long distance to go with the possibility of something being 'off' with it.

Have you considered a Honda Civic, not had one myself but know owners of them and they seem to be pleased with them.
