Hi everyone ,after watching Martin this morning ,i have decided to check on a loan from 1989.Unfortunately it was with Girobank.i have rang santander who my account has now been passed to ,but they say they cant do anything ! ...any advise please ?

If you dont believe Santander then you can pay £10 and do a data subject access request. If you have your own information then you can supply that instead.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Santander will insist that they have no records past 6 years.
However, if you perform a SAR (see the stickies at the top of the forum), it's possible some (but not all) details will be found for you. However, it's also possible they'll stick to the 6 year line and insist they can't find it. It's up to you if you want to spend £10 on this.
Do you have the account details, or some statements/agreements for the loan?Competition wins:
