hi,bought a airsprung bed from home shop group ( very), it is 1 year 3 weeks old nearly, so just out of standard warranty, and having spoke to manufacturer and catalogue both are saying no to replacing it.
it is a single divan 2 drawer base, a 4 year old sleeps in it, and one of the support woods in the base at the bottom has snapped in the middle.
Is just over a year a reasonable length of time for it, thought i would get least 3-4 years out of it, before it needed replacing.
airsprung have said it a sliding scale and I would have to pay so much towards getting it replaced, I think seeing as tho it is 3 weeks nearly over the 1 year warranty, that it should be sorted from air sprung.
any one have any ideas, as someone is phoning back later this afternoon to speak to me regarding it.

You sure no one has been bouncing on it? A 4 year old loves to think they are trampolines at that age?0

no jumping allowed on beds in ours, thats whats we have a trampoline for.0

You don't have an automatic right to have it replaced . The retailer can offer a refund, replacement or repair, but the choice is up to them, not you, unfortunately.
Most likely, they will send an engineer out and screw in another piece of wood, over the one broken , which will fix the fault.
You can demand a replacement, but that is all you can do, demand, They are legally in their rights to repair it.0 -
And just to add to what rustyboy says:
Even if they were to offer a refund that could be a partial refund, reduced to take account of the use you have had.0 -
You might find it easier to just get a plank or a slab of plywood and slip it under the mattress. Of course bed bouncing is not allowed, I also suspect it wasn't allowed in my house when I was 4, nor drawing on the walls, putting my finger in the wet cement, eating all the strawberries, etc., yet somehow they still occurred, apparently.0

Bed bouncing is not allowed in my house. I still catch them. It wouldn't just "snap" after being trouble free for so long imo.
Put some wood across it?0 -
hi company have offered to replace it, but with shipping costs of £40 plus vat. It must of been a weak point as it had a wood knot there.
ta for the replies.0 -

Had to re-read the above as it sounded like he was sleeping in the draw... was going to say that would probably constitute miss use.
Hope you're happy with the resolution. If there was an obvious weak point though they really should be doing it free of charge as this would have evidently existed at the point of sale and so the retailers responsibility to deal with it.0
