Does Anyone Have Any Idea What's Going on Here?

In the last couple of weeks we've had 7 or 8 quotes for buildings and contents insurance via the post.
[The same] Fictitious name but the address and post-code are correct each time.

What could someone be hoping to gain here?
We rang one of them [Barclays] who said they'll look at it and they also told us the quote enquiry was via the telephone.
I did think someone may be getting quotes for a similar house and just giving our address to avoid junk mail but our place is not remotely similar to other nearby properties [most are 2 or 3 bed] we're 5

All very odd

TIA

You will find many on this site recommend putting in neighbours addresses for doing dummy quotes as to avoid both junk mail and hitting fraud filters by changing the quote criteria.

The fact your property isnt the same as others is irrelevant, the address simply gives its location and number of bedrooms etc is declared independently and so the reality of the property differences disappears.

someone is trying to avoid junk mail and/or credit searches (although if name is ficticious it won't affect you)

Could there be a similar address in the vicinity? I get this problem from time to time because of address confusion. (Please note, the following isn't my real address!).

I live at 15 Smith Street, Anytown. However very close by there is an address wihich is 15 The Warren, Smith Street, Anytown. It seems that when companies search for the latter address it comes up as the same as mine, so over the years I've had wrongly addressed things come through at a rate of a couple a month. The fact that the two postcodes are different doesn't seem to bother anyone - I think whoever is inputting the customer details just clicks on the easiest option rather than the correct one.
