:staradmin Hi Everyone and Welcome to the July's 2013 Bankruptcy Club :staradmin

This club is for everyone who has gone or going through the process of Bankruptcy during July 2013. So please feel free to join and post.

Pop your name on here, the date that you went/are going Bankrupt. Then just keep everyone in the club updated throughout the next year about your BR journey. That way you can all stick together, compare notes and be there to support each other during the different stages of your Bankruptcies.
Remember this is your board so keep posting :hello:

Obviously anyone can come on here and post anything that will help and you are all welcome. Any important questions that need answering please still post them on the main board, as you will receive more advice and help.

~ Please do not include too much information as the IS (Insolvency Service) are known to frequent this forum and they may identify individual cases, so username and date only, thank you ~

Best wishes
IF

    Well here goes...

I'll cut a long story short.....

7 years ago we were both working on good incomes then my wife started to have serious health problems and was diagnosed with parkinsons once her employers knew they medically retired her (Barclay's bank) since then we've have really struggled with the finances me being made redundant 3 years ago thankfully found another job,but no where near the income I was earning, but hey at least it's a job however now with the wife's condition getting worse as time goes on she really struggles to climb stairs,so we looked at the possibility of selling the house at the same time trying to find a cheap bungalow to rent however this is where it ends as our credit file is shot to pieces with only one income and a tiny pension from the wife due to the bank retiring her very early...so the decision today after thinking long and hard that we cannot carry on like this is to apply for bankruptcy.

Other than the interest on the mortgage we pay every month there are other creditors that we owe money to with no hope of ever clearing them as all we pay is a tiny amount that is reviewed every 3 months.......

So today we start completing the bankruptcy forms, put the house up for sale with an estate agents.

Sorry to bumble on,but we lived from month to month with out a pot to pee in.

    Hi
Welcome - I have my health and am thankful for that, so sorry to hear your wife has not had that good fortune. Like you, I have scraped along for a few years, always meeting dates and minimum amounts but a big hike in my fuel DD's after the long winter made me realise I just couldn't go on like that anymore dragging this huge weight of debt behind me with no hope of ever paying it off and miserable in the process. 4 years of pay freeze (public sector) and rising costs had just become unsustainable. I completed the online deb remedy at Stepchange (highly recommended) and BR was the only option - I'm 2 weeks into it and still alive to tell the tale - I can assure you, it is certainly no worse than your current situation and, it means you can work towards a better future, rather than stare glumly into a future of debt and penury. Work with Stepchange before you present your petition (they were amazing) and get it over with. the amount of advice and guidance on here is a godsend and I can not praise the folk on here enough. Deep breaths - you'll be ok :)

Hi bigbulldog and welcome to the BR Board. I would post this on the main board as you will receive more replies and support. When you know the date of your BR come back and join the BR Club

Hi everyone. I made myself bankrupt today. Hurrah. Thanks to everyones help on this forum. Today was very straightforward and was nothing to worry about, had to see the judge but was all routine.

Edited to remove times as don't want to be identified by Insolvency service.
