Wired or wireless alarm system?

Hi folks,
I have had a Response diy install wireless alarm system for 12 years now, it wasn't bad, the detectors were a bit iffy, had to replace the battery in main alarm once, but now stopped altogether.
its not possible to buy extra detectors for this alarm due to EU law frequency change, but just wondering should I try another battery which costs £22 or opt for a new system?
Overall what do you prefer wired or wireless and have the pvr detectors the same sensitivity in both as I always found the wireless ones less than satisfactory.
I have looked on Response wireless alarm website so still cheap enough.
To be honest I don't want to spend more than a few hundred pounds.
Thanks
Joe

There are a few threads on this forum discussing whether to go for a Wired/Wireless alarm. Here is one:

If you choose to opt for wireless, there are better more reliable systems than Response. You may however, need to run a wire to an external siren as I believe the Response systems have a wireless solar powered siren. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!

Thanks for reply. if I was to go for a totally wired system, I take it, it may appear rather unsightly having a lot of wires running around ceiling to detectors and to the outside siren.
I would need 3 detectors and just one siren.
Thanks

It depends how good the installer is at making the installation look neat. Are the floorboards easily liftable from upstairs?
Bear in mind that all wires have to come back to a control panel somewhere.
You might possibly want to consider more than 3 sensors. You may need 3 or more PIR (motion) sensors, door contacts, panic buttons, vibration sensors on windows or garden/patio doors etc.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!
