Cash in Crete - advice please

Hi everybody, I am on holiday in crete and was planning to square up for my accommodation using my Halifax clarity MasterCard...
However the owner of the apartment needs me to pay in cash, and i only have enough euros to cover food drink and gifts.
Please can anyone advise me as to which of these is the best option...
Take my emergency english £ to the bank and convert it to € (think there's just about enough in my wallet),
Or use my debit card to draw € from the hole in the wall (I have current accounts with both Halifax and the co-op)
Might seem trivial but I'm wondering if one of these options will sting me more than the other? Or is it six and two threes as the saying goes?
Thanks in advance

Can't you just go get the cash out of an ATM with the Halifax Clarity?0

^^^^ This, assuming your credit limit is high enough.0

Of course - I forgot that was one of the perks (no fee cash withdrawals)
Silly me! Cheers0 -

If you didn't agree to pay in cash when you made the original booking then you should almost certainly negotiate for a reduction.
The owner quite clearly wishes to avoid paying tax so you have the upper hand.
I always pay for everything in cash when abroad - holiday rentals, hotels, meals, hire cars, shopping - and always ask for a better rate.
I like to show them the money when haggling and will often walk away if they won't play ball.More often than not they cave in when they see all that folding stuff disappearing into the distance. If I think they're really desperate I'll keep on walking until they're begging me to return.
When my kids were younger they used to join in the fun - negotiating to buy some knock-off imitation gear from a market stall they would wait for me to turn on my heels and start walking before pretending to burst into tears.Worked every single time.
It's the only way to deal with foreigners and they're really not offended by it.
It has saved me quite a lot of money over the years.
