Flying out from gatwick, landing at heathrow

Was wondering if anyone has any tips of can recommend a meet and greet. Seemed a good idea at the time as flights were cheaper! There will be 5 of us

Thanks :-)

A meet and greet what? Do you want a taxi service, parking, transfer?

Taxi is going to be about £50-£60, coach is £25 each.

Just to point out that to get a taxi for £50-£60 from Heathrow to Gatwick it will need to be an outside airport taxi service that was prebooked and not one of the airport cabs.
All you will find in the taxi bays outside the terminals at heathrow are black cabs and they charge £160 for the same journey.

I do this journey on a regular basis and normally use Roadrunner taxis (based in Horley) and they charge £58.

I've read of people pre-booking a rental car for the day, can be cheaper than a taxi.

We had this situation last summer and we did look into that option but it turned out the pre-booked £58 taxi was cheaper, as there would have been fees for returning the rental car to a different location (albeit just round the M25!)

Definitely book a taxi in advance I'd say would be the easiest way.

Cheapest way from Heathrow to Gatwick is X26 bus from any terminal to East Croydon station-then hop on a train to Gatwick - Bus fare with Oyster is approx £2 and the train is a fiver. Personally if it was me I'd park the car at Heathrow and do the transfer journey on the way out rather than on the way back when I'm not already travel weary and jet lagged.

Where do you actually live ?

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant, a pre-booked taxi, should have made it clearer.

we found this out the hard way a few years ago...were used to Gatwick where you can walk up and book a taxi about anywhere (not necessarily cheap but available)...I cannot remember how many black cabs down the rank we had to go through to find one to take us to NE London/Essex borders...or what extortionate amount we paid but lesson learned.

I do think duchy's suggestion to make the transfer (by whatever means) on the way out is a very, very good one...if it is at all possible with timings, it would be a very sensible thing to do...it would be much nicer to arrive where the car is waiting.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Phone Happy Days Parking. I believe they use the same site for meet and greet at gatwick and heathrow.
