We are getting married in March next year and would like a live singer/band for the evening. Any ideas on the best places to look to find new artists starting out in the West Midlands area.

My sister got quite a few recommendations from posting a message on her facebook page saying she was looking for a band for her wedding. She then found the various bands on facebook, sent a meessage, to get rates and see if they were available for the wedding date, plus get details of where she could go to see them playing. She booked a great band from one of the those recommended. You could also look in the local paper for bands or singers playing at local pubs, clubs and social halls and go to see them and if you like them go to talk to them in their break. You could also check out the websites or facebook pages for local pubs and clubs for details of bands playing and comments from those viewing them.
What type of music do you want the singer or band to perform? The reason I ask is that there is a lot of variety out there and you may have to be specific. For example there are band that do Rock n Roll, Irish bands, tribute acts etc.0 -

A google search of swing bands in the West Midlands brings up quite a few swing bands.

I've been to 3 weddings in the last 2 years where The J Tones played.
They're brilliant - jazz edge to lots of familiar tunes. Based in Birmingham, but have been to Leamington and Coventry weddings where they've played.
