Do you have the bills for the 12 months that you had the service after you thought you had cancelled it?astarmathsandphysics wrote: »I have all the bills and the original contract. I also have the call to cancel logged on my phone bill but no documentation of cancellation.0

I did not have bills by letter ever - I got ebills and only found out they had not cancelled because I checked my bank statement.0

letter on its way0

So did you or didnt your have all your bills, or did you only check them upto the point that you had assumed the contract ended, without then every checking for a closing off statement or looking at the Bank Statement for the last 12 months?
When was it that would have previously prompted you to check how much the bills were for?, Did this magically stop at the point you thought the contract had?
These are the matters that you would need a good explanation for in the case of taking further action.
Did you get any clarification of exactly when the contract would end?astarmathsandphysics wrote: »I did not have bills by letter ever - I got ebills and only found out they had not cancelled because I checked my bank statement.0 -

They'll likely refuse saying they are only permitted to use them for training purposes. Kind of like them pleading the Fifth.
Great advice from izools though.0 -

I used to work for Amex - we regularly listened to calls (several years old too) if there was a dispute, and provided transcripts too.
There have been several occasions where I've had a dispute over what was said on a phone call (always worth noting the date, time & who you spoke to) and unsurprisingly, after they'd reviewed the call, they saw things my way.0 -
Not everyone needs a letter to cancel. Sky were not will to accept a letter or email. All done on the telephone. I've worked in a call centre in the past and all calls are recorded and regular check for compliance and to give the call rep feedback. If you have the time , date of the call and the number you call from they will easily be able to listen to this call. I think you are legally allowed to request all the infomation the company hold on you for a small fee.
I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong.0 -
I just checked all my bills.
I had 12 bills exactly - the period of the contract.0 -

Presumably your phone bills shows the length of the call, as well as the time & date (in future, always make a note of who you spoke to) - send a copy of this to them and ask them to locate that phone call and send you a copy of it or a transcript. At the moment, it's your word against theirs.0
