But that can't be right Unholyangel.

In post #4 we are told:
"Our FF memebership was the top membership which included gyms with pools (my girlfriend is new to swimming and we valued this) and the TruGym ones don't have pools.
I had a choice of 3 FF gyms within 10min cycle to my house I could use. Tru Gym don't have 1 within a 30min Drive !!!!"

Not only has the pool vanished, but the gym is now over 20min further away. :D

As for why we would never want or agree to be with Tru Gym:
    • Its a women only gym - and we had a joint memebership for myself (male) and well as my girlfriend.
    • Our FF membership allowed us to use 45 gyms inside the M25 where we live - Tru Gym have about 2 I think.
    • Our FF memebership was the top membership which included gyms with pools (my girlfriend is new to swimming and we valued this) and the TruGym ones don't have pools.
    • I had a choice of 3 FF gyms within 10min cycle to my house I could use. Tru Gym don't have 1 within a 30min Drive !!!!

Think you've misread. He didnt say his gym has a pool. He said FF gyms (which they can use with FF membership) have pools which they wont have access to now if their membership is switched to trugym.

As for the distance, I think that was more talking about other gyms (rather than his usual).
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Hi everyone - thanks for all the advice and posts.

I think it is point 3 of the listed scenarios above if I am honest. FF sold the gym and the clients. We were told by CAB that this just means that TG now have made us an "offer of contract" and its up to us to accept - we can reject TG if we want even though FF have sold us.

The question over whether there is a difference between the FF & TG - the simple answer is "yes - massive":

    FF:
    • 2 people - female and male joint membership
    • top level membership allowing use of 45 "london" gyms
    • use of central london gyms with swimming pools
    • 2 gyms within 10mins travel of female members work - one with pool
    • 3 gyms within 10min cycle of male member property
    TG:
    • only thought it was 1 member - female - cannot find my details or my "membership" on the account
    • 3 gyms only within whole M25 - one of which is a womens only gym
    • no gyms in london have pools - major reason for having FF memebership
    • no gyms within Zone 1 or 2 of london at all - so female cannot use during work
    • gym that is claiming they own our contract is a womens only gym and therefore male member cannot use and they cannot find his details anyhow - yet they are still trying to claim the money for him !!!
My concern is that I cannot get them to go away. I am pretty confident (99.9%) that if it went to court they would lose. However I don't want to go to court. I don't want the stress. I don't want the credit rating black mark even if its temporary. I don't want to take a day off work (I'm self employed so will lose a days pay).

All this has been pointed out to them - yet they refuse to acknowledge. Its horrible. We feel totally bullied.

I'd be tempted to ask one of the broadsheet consumer advice columns for help, eg Telegraph or Guardian. The threat of publicity might help your case somewhat.
  • I had a lot of issues with TruGym. If it helps anyone I have posted a page with contact details of the director Parm Singh.. Google 'trugym fail ' for upto date info :)
