Making best use of my kitchen

We've recently moved. I'm struggling to make best use of my kitchen.
We have a large kitchen/dining room. We have a large island...1.2m by 2.6m. On one side of the island is the sink, cupboard with 3 drawers and under counter fridge and freezer. On the other side are 2 narrow 3 drawer cupboards,a broader one I use for pans, the hob/oven and the dishwasher.
There are tall cupboards down the 2 walls on either side of the island, windows behind and the table in front. On the island are 2 sockets I use for kettle and toaster.
I'm sure we have enough cupboards. The island is the only work surface.
I just can't work out the best place to put things. Where to put the crockery, cutlery etc? I'm more used to the triangle layout.
I find myself walking round the island and back again over and over! It's not conducive to stress free cooking!
Any suggestions would be so appreciated. Hope I haven't confused everyone.

I really can't visualize this! Do you have any photos? Or could you scan in a layout of it? I bet someone else will be along with ideas soon

It would be much easier with a layout - even just something knocked up in paint, doesn't need to be drawn to scale if you put in dimensions, windows and doors.0

Are the units switchable? Makes more sense to me to have the dishwasher sink side... I have 2 drawers under my hob one has cutlery and crockery and the other pots and pans this works really well. Is the toaster used every day? if not find it a home, more worktop space then and a spare socket!
Agree a pic would help though!

Thanks, all. I do realise how confusing my post is! Sorry, don't know how to do pics.
Units and appliances are fixed, I'm afraid. To confuse further......the sink is actually dual aspect with a draining board on the fridge/freezer side and another at the end of the island so not too far from the dish washer.
I've tried the cutlery on both sides of the island but whatever side, I find myself doing laps. I've ordered a freestanding 3 drawer base unit from M and S which will sit at the window and give me storage and a further work surface. Also it will create a triangle which is clearly the best layout for a kitchen, I'm realising. Thanks for trying to help when i'm not making it easy for you.0
