hi
was trying to drill couple of holes in softwood using my 12V black and decker. But the drill couldnt drill. so i bought my SDS plus drill out but the drill bits that i have were big for what i needed.
Can i use SDS for wood drilling with hammer action off?
can i use normal drill bits with SDS drill or should i buy small size sds plus bits?
ta

You'll probably struggle to find wood bits with an SDS shank on them, but if you can then yes, just turn hammer off. Is the 12v broken or just not very good?0

You can get SDS to regular chuck converters, I've not got one so can't vouch for the quality/performance:

its not broken for sure. its just not good. being a newbie DIYer i bought it (black and decker with spare battery) 9 months ago when we bought our first house, was on offer so was tempted by it, but it was £35 wasted. then bought as SDS drill when needed for some outside masonary drilling and worked a treat.0 -

the OP would be better getting this & you also need one of theseI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
You can buy a chuck with an SDS shaft quite cheaply, which will take an ordinary wood or metal drill. That is how I do it when necessary.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
thanks just want to ask one more question. silly me but i didnt charge the two batteries right before drilling. it was charged about 4 weeks ago or so. the drill still worked but could a slightly depleted battery affect performance or is it like a phone where until battery dies, the drill works normally?0

You will find that it will work when you press the trigger but will not drill into any thing.
If you haven't used it much it is a good idea to charge the batteries right up and then run them down again, do this a few times as this will make them last longer.
I always have to charge mine before using it that's because the batteries are about 5 years old.0
