Help with Dell Monitor settings

Just taken delivery of Dimension E520 which came with 19inch SE197P monitor. The settings are awful. Very blurry text and just out of focus and pixelated display. I have gone through the Dell Support and tried what I can. Anyone any ideas, as I need to know whether to sent this one back (or if it's me!).

Check the spec of your monitor and set the Display Properties, Settings to the native resolution of your monitor. You may also need to change the Clear Type setting. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thanks, it is set to native. But how do I change the Clear Type? Is this applicable to Vista?0

It looks like its only for XP. My concern is that if I keep the monitor too long I won't be able to return it. They have offered to send another, but I don't know whether this is a crap monitor or if the graphics card is not up to the job. I cannot even view this website without feeling that I need specs on.
Graphics is 256mb X1300PRo Radeon. But as I say this PC is just for internet and WP.0 -
sorry, missed that one.........going there now0

That was good. Cleartype is on by default, but actually if I take it off I can hardly read the words at all. I just cannot work out this blurry out of focus (almost hangover type display!)0

Sorry can't really help any more, as no experience with wide-screen or Vista. Could it be the refresh rate? Some bright spark will be along soon to advise you. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thanks for your help anyway, it was uselful (clear text). I will wait for the bright sparks!0

See this Dell Troubleshooting Guide.
Make sure it's connected properly with the DVI cable. Try different refresh rates and display settings. Press the menu button on the front of the monitor to bring up the On Screen Display and try the Factory Reset or Degauss option if available.0
