Can anyone provide some views:

I am looking for a resonably priced and would prefer following features:

Mini DV format
Wide screen recording
Should be able to transfer old videos to DVD
Minimum 10 optical zoom

Any suggestions please.

Thanks

I have a Canon MV800 which I bought 6 months ago from eBuyer. It's a budget model (£150) but does everything I want, including recording in widescreen or normal format. For transferring old tapes to DVD, I use my PC for editing first.

have you checked that you get good quality videos at more than 10x zoom? eg 30x zoom can cause seriously shaky images.
Also check low light quality. This is a failing on many camcorders. Depends on your budget; I'm not aware of any lowish budget ones that are ok in bad light or indoors. The Panasonics (upwards of £500 though) used to be v good if that helps - in all lights. They are mini DV.

Yes my old JVC was better in low light conditions than my new Canon. But then it was 3 times dearer! Depends what's important to you really.
  • Can anyone help please?

I have a Sanyo VPC-C5 Digital Movie Camera that records in MP4s. I can play my recordings on my PC with no problem and the quality it good. However, when I transfer the recording to disc, the quality is really bad. Am I doing something wrong or do I need different software?

    Would appreciate any advice
