I would close the door and re-freeze.
as long as they were under 5c they should be fine if caught that day especially with products your re-heating.
SOme products like ice cream may not be nice as the ice crystal will be big so its not creamy0 -
It was 8 hours and the stuff will have defrosted slowly, as the freezer will have been going full pelt trying to keep the temperature down with the door open. No different to you taking stuff out to defrost on the worktop or in the fridge.
Cook up any basic ingredients into meals TODAY and freeze them again.
Use any ready made cookable stuff you can today and dump the rest of it.
Food doesn't suddenly grow food poisoning bacteria. They have to be there to start with and take time to breed.
A very good answer.
I'd thank this again if I could.
It's only a game

A friend's OH ended up in hospital after eating ice cream which had been left out and partially thawed. The health inspectors said that ice cream should never be refrozen.

Check the food, if it's hard, it's still frozen, just refreeze. If stuff's soft but cold, stick it in the fridge and use it soon as you can. In the case of meat, you might be better cooking it, letting it cool and putting it in the fridge. If it's soft and warm, give it the sniff test.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
