missing interest

I received a letter from the halifax telling me that they would pay my claim because going to court (even if they won) was not cost effective for them. I checked my account and they have paid my charges and my court fee into my account but no interest was paid. I have tried to get in touch with them but the phone is constantly busy.

I checked my moneyclaim form and I never added the interest charges to the total claimed but they were mentioned at all times in correspondence. I thought that they were added on when the claim went to court so the interest could be calculated to the correct date.

Should I just be grateful or should I insist on the interest? Do I now have to cancel my court claim or do they do that?

As you didn't "tick the box" for interest on MCOL the bank have paid in full your court claim so I doubt they will now pay any interest.

In any event, you aren’t legally entitled to the 8% “statutory” interest on the charges, unless it is awarded by the judge, and you settled before it got to that.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

I didn't settle anything. They sent me a letter and put the money in my bank on the day I received the letter

If they have paid the full amount of the claim and your court fee then it should be considered settled. If you didn't ask for interest on MCOL then you should not pursue it.

Keep the claim open until the you are sure you have the money, then write to the court and tell them it has been settled to your satisfaction.
