Easiest , Cheapest way to get from Sheffield to Cork???

We live in the peak district nr. Sheffield .We have to visit my partners sister in W.cork Eire, for her 40th birthday in mid July.We are travelling with three small children.Im not sure how we should get there, every option looks like a nightmare.Ferry with car, or fly and borrow a car.Cheapest way I've found so far would be to fly from stansted to cork, but that means having to rope someone in to driving us to and from stansted, which is a quite a long drive.Anybody got any ideas? or seen ay useful ferry promotions?

thanks, but Leeds Bradford would be £540. rn for the cheapest dates for that period. And the best I could find for Manchester was£330.90.Where as Stansted would be £101.60 rn. So it does look like the best option.
Does anyone know if you can get a coach or train to stansted?

You could go Swansea/Cork ferry - it should take you under 4 hours to Swansea, 10 hour or something ferry ride (overnight I think) and arrive Cork in the morning, then you only have an hour or two depending on where you're going. If you do decide the ferries, Irish Ferries changes to peak rate in mid July (as soon as kids break up from school), so try to get outward journey at cheaper rate. Irish Ferries. Check Stena to compare prices.

BMIBaby from East Midlands, Manchester, Teesside or Birmingham, Ryanair from Liverpool, Thomsonfly from Coventry

Train & coach services to Stansted form the north are awful and generally result in you standing on platforms for an hour or so or going via the centre of London.

If you are thinking of going to Stansted it would probably work out cheaper overall to fly aer Lingus from Heathrow.
  • hi, would recommend ryanair from Liverpool to Cork. The 99p offer finishes on 7th july, but a quick search shows that flights can be as low as £2.99 each way after that in July.

Liverpool is less than 100 miles away, and a nice drive over the snake pass. When i was working in sheffield for a few months last year, i drove sheff to manchester loads.

    Check it out Ryanair

(BTW, a quick reminder the 99p ryanair sale ends today!)
