Friday isn't recommended for two reasons, the first you've already mentioned but the other is because its a common day to complete which makes it really busy for the Solicitors which could hold it up.

To complete on a BH weekend would be extra risky!

Don't let the vendor railroad you into following his desires!

we onyl realised the implications when we sat and talked after the phone call , also , they told us at offer stage and viewing that they would move into family to keep dates that were desired within the chain , if we accept the weekend they say , our buyers would have been waiting about 15 weeks....

I know it must a be a common tactic but lo and behold they have now found a house , had offer accepted and want to tie it all in , i think i need tos tick to our and our buyers guns and insist on earlier?

Its a shame as was hoping to keep it all very friendly if possible but i think as they have two kids as well they dont want to really move into family at all if they can help it

This seems a good thread to ask , as its running already , hope ok OP...

My vendor called me last night to talk about exchange and completetion..

He said exhange is always 4 days before , but i think he meant at least 4 days before , i know it can be same day but anyway.....he was a lovely guy , and sort of railroaded us into aiming to complete on a friday (the friday before the august bank holiday) and him and his removal friends with vans , would be out of our hair , and the house by saturday at Noon)....

I am a FTB so it took me a while to realise , i need to complete on the same day i sell because i cant buy without selling , so i actually need to go back to him today and say we need to move in on he day we complete , not the day after , otherwise , two adults , two kids and two dogs are effectivly homeless for the night...is that about right ?

I did read something somewhere about dont complete on a friday in case it goes wrong..? can anyone elaborate ?

How can you sell if you're a FTB?

Our completion date is tomorrow and I have been trying to contact my solicitor and estate agent about where/when I collect the keys and no one has bothered to respond back to me. Do I just sit here doing nothing and yet my completion date has been fixed for tomorrow?

    You become a slave..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Well I hope you've heard something by now about collecting keys, but unless you're in Scotland, you'll usually collect keys from ea.

Solicitor should phone you to tell you that money has been passed over & completion has taken place & then hopefully your vendor if there is one, has already handed in keys to ea, but if not you have to hang around until they do so.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
