three waiting days deducted from eventual notice pay

My friend applied to the Redundancy Payments office for redundancy and notice pay after the company she worked for went into administration.
She was entitled to 90 days notice pay to be paid after the 90 days had expired. She knew that any benefits she had claimed during the 90 days would be deducted from the payment.
She had claimed a few days JSA then went on to ESA. This benefit was deducted as expected.
There was also a deduction of just over £30. The RPO stated that as her JSA did not begin to be paid until the 4th day following her redundancy, they did not know why she had not claimed immediately and were therefore deducting 3 days benefit as she could have claimed it but didn't.
She has explained that she did claim immediately but was not paid until after the third day as three waiting days were unpaid. Therefore it was money that was never available to her. She is awaiting their response but just wondered if they are likely to reimburse her.

I have never heard of "waiting days" in respect of JSA. Does she have something official in writing which confirms this deduction?0 -
Not sure if she has it in writing but I'll check. She was told it verbally though.0

Really? It's not a new thing at all. The waiting days has been around for years (JS Act 1995 iirc).
For instance:
Jobseeker's Allowance payments
In most cases you will not get any money for the first three days of your claim. These are called 'waiting days'.

As for the OP, I'm sorry that this has happened to your friend, and can only offer the advice of going to your local job centre and asking for any of the forms which mention these waiting days and sending it to the former employer. I wish you good luck in any case.
It's only a game

This happened to me when I got made redundant in December. They do (or at least they should, they did with me), make it clear that you won't get paid for the first 3 days.0

My friend is adamant she was told she wouldn't be paid for the first three days. So wouldn't you think the RPO would be aware of this and not deduct money she was never allowed to claim in the first place?0
