Sorry if this is a silly question but...
We have narrowed down where we want to live but now really frustrated because hardly anything on rightmove/zoopla that fits our budget/criteria. I just wondered if anyone knows of places that sellers might advertise privately or online estate agents that may have property for sale but don't advertise on rm.
Or, a bit of a long shot, would it be worth us advertising somewhere that we are looking for a house in a certain area - or is that silly?!:o

Do you live in the area you are looking to rent? Try to local papers, look in newsagents windows etc. I used to advertise my flat on a card in a couple of local shops and the weekly property pages.
Also, check individual agency's own websites, as just being nosey, the flat next to mine is up for rent. I looked on Rightmove and it wasn't there, went to the agent's own site and it was.0 -
This will vary according to area of the country. Rightmove dominates in E&W, but there could well be local portals that a cluster of EAs in a certain county or city use.
For houses in in-demand areas, they could well sell before the EAs put them on RM, so you may be better off registering as a buyer with local agents before you put a want ad in the paper or newsagents' windows....
As Werdnal says, look on the local EAs' own websites.
Are you buying in E&W, or Scotland?0 -
Thanks. We are looking to buy in the Bletchingley/Godstone area of Surrey. I have registered with pretty much all the local agents but there don't seem to be many houses coming on the market at the moment (within our budget/criteria). I know not all properties make it to rightmove but do check agents websites and local paper. Prob just need to be a bit more patient lol :A0

have you tried a letter through the letterbox in the areas you know are in your budget and the areas you like?0
