Old Credit Card debt on Credit File

Hi,
Checking my Noddle credit file it's got listed that I owe Co-op around £3,000 for an old credit card. I moved to Ireland for a year back in 2007 and it looks like during that year I lost track of that particular credit card and they lost track of me.
I'm on a debt management plan at the moment and want to make sure this debt is included so that I'm not still left with a £3000 debt at the end of it. However the debt management company and Co-op have said they can't trace the debt.
I've called Co-op myself and they found the account - but they said it was closed and I owed nothing and that I should contact the credit agency and get it removed from my record. They wouldn't give me the card number over the phone so I can't even give that to those sorting out the debt management plan.
I've just tried to signup with Experian to see if they've got it listed - but probably because I've been moving around a lot of the last 2 years they couldn't sign me up automatically and they need to make some manual checks so I hopefully will get to check that next week.
Anyone know if Co-op has a special 'ancient debt' department that I can try and contact. They just told me to write to their head office at Balloon Street if I wanted anymore information but would like to at least point the letter in the right direction.
I'm almost positive I do still owe this money which is why I want to get it included in the plan - I suspect that maybe Co-op has passed the debt to a debt collection agency which is why they don't have any record but the person on the phone I spoke to claimed there's normally notes on the account when that happens and there's nothing - just that the debt's been settled.
I never actually thought it would be that hard to pay BACK money owed.

It drops off your credit file 6 years from default date.
Once you get to search your file, it might show up as owned by a DCA. 0 balance with coop as they likely sold it.
Searching your file will wake up DCAs, so likely they will find you.
Not paying or acknowledging the debt in writing for 6 years means its statute Barred.
Maybe also check trust online at the last address for you to see if anyone got a CCJ.:beer:0
