Amazon returns.

Options
More of a please learn from my mistake thread :o

I often buy goods from Amazon safe in the knowledge I can return an unsuitable item for no quibble refund. I usually take care to check the seller rating.

I bought from Sourcingbay but did not notice they were based in f.....g china. Thus not covered by distance selling regulations and return postage to China is very expensive. Seller promised refund, but 4 weeks later and no refund. Because it is from China I have to wait another month before I can register a claim via Amazon

Next time I will be more careful to choose only UK seller :(

Understand your frustration l had a similar issue and Amazon was not interested when l raised a complaint regarding the listing giving the impression they were a UK seller due to the postage saying something like £2.60 UK Delivery when in fact they were in China.

Amazon said it was up to me to read the sellers profile etc, which l guess is right, however l feel the listing should be more clearer.

eBay make it easy to see where the seller is based, Amazon do not. I can't help but feel sellers from China exploit this to hide their location.

I was looking at their new drop off system and asked them what happens if you need to make a return, they did not reply.

  • I've got to admit I've not had that much trouble working out which items are from China. The clue is in the delivery times. If it says 2/3 weeks it's probably from China! This has always given it away to me then I'll check and see the item says it'll be shipped from China.

You always get an email with the order confirmation, that will always have an estimated delivery time. With most orders I believe you get a small few hour window to log into Amazon & cancel the order if you don't want it or it was made by mistake. I've used that a couple of times myself.

Good tip. I thought you were committed to purchase and did not know you could cancel order at that stage.

Yeah go into your account (at top right of the page) and your orders & you'll see this with the option to cancel. I don't know how long it lasts for but I've used it a few hours after placing an order & it got cancelled.

I did realise immediately after purchase it was from China due to longer delivery. Had I known about this option it would have saved me heartache.

I am a bit dissatisfied with Amazon because of this and poor performance of their !!!!!! delivery companies. My next purchase I paid a little more for a deliver to store from John Lewis.

    An update:
After a month I emailed seller
No we have not received your return
I will be making a negative report and a dispute via Amazon
Miraculously my package returned and I got a (partial) refund within the hour!
Still out of pocket for the postage but I will call that a result
Now they want me to delete my negative feedback <LMAO>
