Hi,
I bought a Freezer from Currys less than 12 months ago, and they also installed it for me for £20.00
It has continually frozen so much (even with the Thermostat turned down to 'Min') I had to spend hours Defrosting it every month. Now it has frozen to the extent that I could not open the drawers, so I had to defrost it with food inside, with the consequent loss of the food. I tried to contact the Manufacturer, but I found they have gone out of business.
I would like to know if Currys are liable, or do I have to mark it down to experience.
Can someone advise me please,
AD

When did you first report this malfunction to Currys?

Why is there loss of food, didn't you think to just thaw it enough to open the drawers or use a little steam?

Regadless you home insurance would cover it but with two problems, 1 your Excess would make it unclaimable and 2 having frozen food in a freezer would not exactly make a good claim as you ruined it with excessive defrosting.

Currys are your first port of call but again you have to actually prove the freezer is faulty before you can complain. Would this be classed as a fault, a freezer doing exactly that, I don't think they will see it like that.

Who is the manufacturer? When Servis went out of business, Currys just got their own engineers to sort guarantee jobs.

Secondly, they don't offer installation on freezers, because there's nothing to install.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
