IF instant decision & reasonable credit limit

While alot of be moaning credit cards is going, I thought it important to hightlight a goodie. The IF card is 0% on BT and purchases plus they give an instant decision and credit limit online. Mr Smartsaver got 11k and I got 4k - which for our current 'borrowing' and circumstances is not bad. T&C's arrived in post 3 days later and we are now waiting for our cards... :D

Interesting. I was expecting to get an instant decision online too, because the website certainly implies it. But after entering my details it said: thanks - we'll think about it and get back to you.

They did, and I have had it confirmed by phone that it has been approved, forms have arrived and been returned, although I have not been told my limit yet (apparently I need to be allocated an account number first).

Maybe I triggered something by what I entered. I asked for a sizeable Balance Transfer to my Egg Card (aka the Stoozer's Flexible Best Friend) - perhaps that did it.

You can always set up a DD or online payment from your bank - for BT stoozing thats all you need. :)

Well, hopefully they'll be better if you just have the credit card, but IF are really cr*p when it comes to current accounts!

We have just closed our plan - current, mortgage, savings and CC accounts with them because of this. It is very hard to get money in on time - often took more than the advertised time - because you can only DD or post cheques in. We had ridiculous amounts of charges because of this, hence closing it.

Incidentally, they won't close the overall plan for 6 months because we had a CC, and something "might" show up on it, even though the thing was never even verified, never mind used!

    Best of luck -

    Mel.

    i agree with welf man

I just closed all my accounts / plans with IF

I have 5k in cash and needed to lodge to the current account, totally impossible, as a result was charged fees for DD going unpaid !!

IF are a mess, good luck !

I have used IF perfectly happily for three years. I had an offset mortgage to start with, but that's since been paid off. I have had no problem at all, but am moving now coz they have reduced the interest rates on their current account, so am looking for a better deal.

I'll apply for the 0% CC before I go, though :j

    Thank you Smartsaver!
I had given up on getting another 0% deal now that I can no longer have 2 MBNA cards. I got offered a paltry £1000 limit from the co-op and i was turned down by marbles and someone else. i don't have a bad rating just lots of credit. anyway IF offered me a 6k limit online, i have a saving account with them so maybe that helped!

    Read that again, slowly...

Smartsaver, my point re. on-line access was that I can'tload the balance into FD Internet Banking Plus.
