Car damaged due to pothole
I believe that there is a fault with my car now, due to running over a pothole while driving to London.
The hit was too strong and loud that I had ear noise in my right ear for few seconds after it happened.
When I stopped at Services, I noticed my steering wheel became heavier than I use to, also I started hearing a noise coming from the front bonnet when steering, while engine is running and car is stopped.
Also started smiling kind of some sort of oil when I am driving my car.
I quick checked, and it seems I have a problem with the steering power pump.
The problem, I won't be able to remember where the pothole exactly is, I believe somewhere on the A1.
Will I ever get compensated by DVLA for this damage?

You need to know where the pothole is and who is responsible for that stretch of road.
Depending on where it is the responsibility will lie with either a Local Authority, The Greater London Authority or the Department for Transport. The roads along which the A1 route travels are the shared responsibility of the local boroughs, the Greater London Authority, and the British Government via the Department for Transport.
Finding out who to contact is the easy bit. The very hard bit will be proving that they are liable.
I will leave that to others to comment and advise.0 -
Unless the pothole had already been reported it is unlikely anyone will be liable. You could probably claim on your insurance.0
