Hi,
Can someone tell me whether I need to pay council tax if I am living with my parents who are on housing benefit?
I am working full-time but do not contribute anything to my parents.
Thanks, Ash

in theory yes, in practice you live at your mates/girlfriends who pay it all and only get post delivered their.0

Why? that's so unfair!0

The fact that you live with your parents who are on benefits means your parents will need to have their ct benefit reduced because of you living there, irrispective of whether you contribute the the household expenses or not. If your parents haven't owned up to you living there then they are actually commiting benefit fraud.
Just out of interest, why, if your parents are on benefits aren't you paying a least something towards your keep as you are in full time employment? The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

So does everyone else. AND we pay council tax!!
No one LIKES paying CT, it's just something we have to do!
Your parents are commiting benefit fraud by not having you on the CT bill. IF you lived anywhere else, you'd have to pay your share of the CT.
If you don't like the system, then complain to your local MP.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Nope, it's not enough, different taxes pay for different things. I was explaining all the different taxes to my son the other day and worked out that I pay at least 5 different kinds of tax.
How would you feel if the council ran out of money 12 weeks before the end of the tax year and cancelled all bin collections? The streets would be full of rubbish, and therefore rats and all sorts, there would be lots of accidents in freezing conditions because the roads would not be gritted, parks and other public places, such as leisure centres and museums would have to close and your town/village/city would become quite an unpleasant, and unsafe, place to live.
You really should pay up like everyone else, expecially if you're not paying board!Addicted to Facebook0 -
There are plenty of parasites in the world today.
Have some pride for goodness sake.
GGThere are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.0
