scones are dead easy - you need

Self raising flour - 8 ozs
    Butter - 2 ozs
pinch salt (small pinch or leave it out if you are anti-salt)
    milk to mix.

Rub the butter into the flour until all the large lumps are gone - then mix with milk until you get a soft slightly sticky dough.
flour your worktop and quickly knead the dough until it looks smoothish. Pat down with your hand until the dough is about an inch thick.
cut out 2 inch rounds and put them on a baking tray - brush the tops with milk or egg wash and put them in a fairly hot oven Gas 7 and bake for about 12 minutes.
leave to cool before splitting them and either
spread butter on and just enjoy
    put jam on
    put jam AND cream on
or with these plain scones you can fill with savourys like cheese or marmite.
