HELP
I sent my phone off to be repaired after having it 21 months on a t-mobile contract.
When I got the phone back Sony had locked it to O2 and said it was originally an O2 phone and by law they need to reset it to them.
I have a T-mobile contract and have had for the last 2 years and now cannot use the phone and t-mobile want £25 to unlock the phone when it's their phone and I got it from them.....
Is there anything I can do as I am paying for a contract and have no use of the phone.... It's so wrong???

Have you got a local shop which unlocks phones as they could be around £10
If T Mobile supplied the phone, and it worked, then I would expect them to unlock it for free0 -
The most local one charges £25
I have spoke to t-mobile and they won't unlock it for free even though its on their contract.
Can't believe the stupidity of it all...Nothing to prove….Everything to achieve …0 -
suggest you look your phone up on xda developers, you can find unlock processes for most anything on there.
though i agree t-mobile should be doing it for free, this will be a lot quicker. as long as you can follow instructions!

Or if you have a friend on T mobile get them to call T mobile and ask for the unlock code.Your friend could say they are going on holiday and want to use a local sim card.0

If the phone is locked to O2 there is no way for T-Mobile to unlock it, no matter what.
Someone on O2 could request the unlock (after using the phone for a few days to associate the IMEI onto the network). Even the OP could do that using a PAYG sim.====0 -
Got back in touch with t-mobile and they have waived the unlocking fee and sent me a code that I should get in a few days. They have also credited my account for the month I haven't been able to use the phone. Will wait to see if the phone unlocks.....Nothing to prove….Everything to achieve …0

If that code doesn't work, come back here and tell us what actual phone it is. If it's a smartphone, especially if it's an Android one, someone has probably found a way to unlock it reliably for free already.0
