Credit Card application

Options
Hi,
just wondering, how long does an credit card application usually take?

I applied for a Morgan Stanley card 2 weeks ago and have not heard anything from them since.

Do they really need to take this long to decide if they want to give me a credit card?

  • My Morgan Stanley took almost a month if I remember rightly.

I applied for a M&S card a few days after the Morgan Stanley and got the card through the post in just over 2 weeks.

Remember to fill in every part of the application. Dont leave any blanks. i.e. phone numbers/work numbers etc. It helps your credit score and is more likely to go through as the more info the better.

a month? this is a joke. Yes, i don't remember my M&S application took this long.

you must have a very good credit score to apply 1 card after another...

someone asked me a question regarding Balance Transfer, which I do not have the answer. I thought I'd post the question here.

John has £2000 outstanding on his credit card.
He applies for another credit card in order to transfer the outstanding balance of £2000 (he stated £2000 on the application form).

During the whole application process, John pays £200 as the monthly payment is due and the remaining balance is £1800.

If the application is approved, how much will the transferred amount be?

often you have to request the balance transfer again once the card comes through (I had to do this both times I applied for a balance transfer card). If you do this then just give the new figure.
I suppose if they do transfer the original figure, then you will have a credit on the other card, so just spend up to the value of the credit, and the debt is on the other card, so you can pay off the other debt if you want with the money you would have paid for the £200 of new spending.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
