What makes you want to avoid ebay? It has its problems, but your item will get a lot of exposure there. My TV is broken!

Personally for expensive jewellery I would be looking to sell in person, through a reputable jeweller or auction house where people can see the item and appreciate it better.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i dont want to use ebay coz a while ago my ex bid and won some things and didnt pay and our account was in my name so i feel too bad and guilty to even log on.
went to local jewellers and all i got offered was £150, when its in the shops for £1000,and its brand new!
my friend checked on ebay and a similar item is struggling to reach £300.
looked into auctions but with the charges and vat it wont be worth the hassle!0 -
I too have a lot of jewellery , & watches that I want to sell but am unsure where to sell .
So I am open to ideas.

Have another look at the end of the auction, as a rule most of the bidding happens at the end.
I think you should log on to your ebay account just to see what the damage is. If you got a negative, that's not going to look very good as a seller, but if you didn't, there's nothing to stop you using the account again.
Worst case scenario, your account might have been shut down, but I think you'd have heard about it if that had happenedMy TV is broken!

I have sold quite a lot of jewellery recently to a reputable jeweller in my town.:j The problem seems to be that unless it is exceptional, most jewellery is bought by dealers solely on the weight of the gold or silver and the value of the stones, not because it is a nice piece, whereas when you buy it is priced as a nice piece!
You could try getting a price and then if you can sort out your ebay account as fay suggests, putting it on with that as the start price and seeing if you can do better!0 -
As a rule if you sell to a jeweller they will give you a quarter of the price they will re-sell it for. I received £2000 for 2 diamond rings which then went in the shop window for £8000. I had an auction valuation at Bonhams but this was similar before commision / auction fees are taken off. That's life I guess! :rolleyes:0
