The difference is that I've already got my degree so I don't need to worry.

Cheque/ check must have been a typo as I used cheque instead of check not the other way round plus I'm not an idiot.

If you're used to being on JSA now, you should be okay at university with the finance on offer there.
As an independent student, check what you qualify for on the student finance site. Likely full whack if you've got no savings and didn't earn anything in the previous financial year. You may qualify for extra bits and bobs if you're the first in your family to go to uni, see what Aberwristwatch have in the way of bursaries and grants when you get there. Also the financial advisors at Bangor were amazing and really willing to help, I've heard they're pretty good at Aber too so make them one of your first points of call - they may even be able to suggest some things we don't know about.

You'll also find that there are lots of places (shops, pubs, anywhere) who will be taking on and will be pleased of a mature student who is more likely to be reliable plus if you've got some work experience, you're at an advantage to some of the young whippersnappers who will also apply.

So between that, Aber being pretty cheap to live in and having a nose at the OS boards for any tips, you'll find a way to be just fine I'm sure.

As an aside - what on earth does spelling and grammar on a forum have to do with the topic of advice on mature student funding?
englishrose19, you may have been able to post using perfectly serviceable language however perhaps upon reading back your comment, you may have seen that it could be taken as plain rude especially as for all we know, our OP could be dyslexic or using a device which isn't as responsive as a standard keyboard. It may even come across that you're playing at the superiority game.

More crucially though, using your own scenario of applying the same logic to university work, your post could be seen as unrelated. Marks are far more weighted towards relevance than to spelling, punctuation and grammar. It's very nice being able to dole out subjunctives, semi colons and long words during essays but if you're not relevant to the topic at hand, you may as well wipe your nose across the page.

Thanks for the support guys means a lot to me. Yeah I am dyslexic I do find it hard to remember which letter go where and especially joined up writing confuses me a bit but I am a programmer who is going to study software engineering so I doubt I will be doing much writing on paper.

I told the Uni and they said they give me extra support.

Once again thanks for the help.

That's correct for sure :D I am a programmer and I had to write a letter, by hand, this week and my gosh, has my handwriting deteriorated! It used to be so neat and tidy and now it's a scrawl.

    Goodluck with it!
