"So this is the legendary crossroads where the blues man Robert Johnson allegedly sold his soul to the devil in return for magical powers on the guitar"
And anywher on googling has no mention of a hotel. It is always the 'crossroads' or the 'street'
EGA self-perpetuating legend states that noted blues guitarist Robert Johnson strolled down a Mississippi county road and was stopped at an intersection by no other then Lucifer, himself. Robert Johnson then proceeded to sell his soul in return for being the best blues guitarist that ever lived.Locals in Rosedale, Mississippi claim Johnson sold his soul to the Devil at the intersection of highways 1 and 8 in their town, while the 1986 movie Crossroads was filmed in Beulah, Mississippi. Blues historian Steve Cheseborough writes that it may be impossible to tell which crossroads Johnson was talking about, because "Robert Johnson was a rambling guy".
So in short, he did not sell his soul in a hotel, it was at a crossroadsUEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0 -
Cheers for the help.Maybe the Guardian will edit the question.0

anyone confirm/ dispute this?On November 23, 1936, Room 414 of the Gunter was the scene of a historic recording session by blues artist Robert Johnson. Talent scout H. C. Speir had arranged the session with Brunswick Records who set up a temporary studio in the hotel where Johnson recorded a number of songs including the blues classic Sweet Home Chicago. In 2009, John Mellencamp came to the Gunter to record for a new album in the same room where Johnson had recorded in 1936.
There's no mention of Gunter in that video and I've sat through it twice nowUEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0 -
