    You haven't said what you've tried, which is why I keep asking F8 and then what

    Assuming you've had it from new, haven't had the factory partition wiped, and W7 was pre-installed, either follow the instructions above (after backing up data), or read the manual, specifically p65-67

    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-15-intel-n5010_setup%20guide_en-us.pdf

    http://www.voidtools.com/ (for searching)

    hijackthis save log shouldn't need an internet connection, but analyzethis does.

    sorry CLOSED , this is what happens ;

    press F8 option for repair comes up

    then get the following ;

    Start up repair

    system restore ( earliest is 6/4/13)

    system image recovery ( cannot find system image on computer)

    windows memory diagnostic

    command prompt

    Have also looked at the manual and followed the instuctions with no luck as there is no option to restore to factory settings ?

    create the disc then - if for some reason that doesn't work, and one didn't come with it, your options are obtain a disc, or tidy up what you've got

    what's the history of the machine?

    im really not sure what you mean when you say create the disc?

    I have found the drivers and utility disc for the machine , is that any good.

    history of machine, brought new approx. 2-3 years ago , has had some issues and last time they restored it back to factory settings (pc world) and it seemed to improve the performance for a short while , ?

    create the windows recovery disc, as mentioned in the first line of post 2, and in the manual

    install search everything if you can't find dell datasafe

    if it's been back to pcw, anything could have happened to it, so it's possible this may be missing

    doubt the drivers disc is any good, you need the windows disc.

    alternatively switch from avg to avast free, and elaborate on "slow"

    you create the recovery disc using the dell datasafe program, from inside windows, as described in the manual on page 66

    you can use search everything to find it, if you can see it on the programs list, by putting the word datasafe into the search everything box

    this all assumes pcw or someone else hasn't deleted it previously

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell DataSafe Local Backup\datasafe.exe , backup, create recovery media

    backup first, if there is anything to backup
