At risk redundancy, possibly insolvency, unpaid wages and holidays.

Options
Hi,

My partner received a letter 8 days ago saying that due to the loss of contracts, the company would have to look at redundancies (there are only 3 employees and husband/wife directors) and they were therefore invited to a redundancy consultation, whi ch would take place on monday 25th. Partner is due to be paid, plus expenses, on 29th. Today, he was informed the meeting had been pushed back to 28th and the friday is left blank on his schedule. He questioned it, thinking it meant the company was going bust (their site has gone offline too) but they will not say anything.
To say the least, the people are sly anyway. Partner has begun job search and has an interview monday, and we know what benefits there are if he is thrown out of work, but that doesnt help if they decide to have him work all week and then not pay him on the friday - he is almost certain he wont be paid. We have rent to cover and bills outstanding, only just started getting our debts sorted :( and cannot afford to miss out on a months pay, nor do we want to lose holidays accrued. As he has only been there 9 months, we know he cant get redundancy...

I'm just hoping someone will shed some light on our rights re money owed, questions to ask, where to go...

Please?

If the company goes into a formal insolvency procedure and yourpartner does not get there salary they will be entitled to claim from the goverment, the outstanding wages, holiday pay, wages in lieu of notice and redundancy but i think it is paid at a max of £430 per week.
The expenses are different you will be an unsecured creditor and it is very unlikely you will be paid.
