Purchasing some land

Hello
I have agreed to purchase a piece of land at the rear of my property in NI (nominal fee of £500). The land is not registered as it was owned for quite a while by the same lady but it is on the map within land registry clearly marked inculding boundaries. I am unsure if she has/need deeds to transfer the property into my name but am wondering whether i can complete the transfer to myself instead of employing a sols (registry of deeds to land registry). I have checked and there are no charging land attached to the land ref. What else should i be doing/looking out for?
Thanks

Just employ a solicitor. Unless you know what you are doing DIY carries certain risks. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

It's NI, so take with a pinch of salt.
If there are no charges on the land, you can do it yourself, and the land registry can provide you with the forms.
I would ask a solicitor to draw up a contract of sale however, a nominal fee of £100, to safeguard it.0 -

The contract is the easy part! At least in England (I can't comment on NI). Standard form, as as long as you don't c*ck up the price, or the address (copy of Land Reg as you say it is identified there: "Land at rear of xxxx?") you can't go wrong.
The tricky bit is confirming good Title, since it is unregistered.0 -
I am waiting for her to come back to me as there may be some deeds which should make the transfer easier.
"Its NI so i would take this with a pinch of salt" Unsure as to what this means???0
