Bournemouth kids rain?

We're meeting some friends tomorrow who are staying in Bournemouth overnight, (Travelodge Bournemouth Cooper Dean) we're meeting them there and then need something to do. We were planning on going to Sandbanks, but we thought they were staying somewhere else, so that's a bit far, and they're forcasting showers now.
Any suggestions for how to entertain kids for a few hours while we chat? Or are there any nice pubs with play areas for kids?
