Insurance on old Halifax Mortgage

Does anyone know about insurance policies on old mortgages ie, 2000 ish. My query is on an old mortgage statement it shows Insurance debited to our Mortgage account on an annual basis, but Halifax cant tell me what this was for. It also mentions Halifax Xtra cover on some other paperwork noone can tell me it is buildings, contents, and sickness cover insurance or what it is - bit of a long shot but can anyone shed some light on it on here????

  • We have had various halifax mortgages

I think on ours this insurance debited to the mortgage account is deffo buildings and contents

We also had tmmp but this was a seperate direct debit

May be wrong and one of the gurus will correct me but pretty sure its buildings and contents

Thank you thats really helpful as I've been getting no-where fast with Halifax themselves. I will write to them anyway just to clarify. Dont suppose it included any sort of sickness policy for the mortgage???
  • Hi. It was just building and contents which was added to our mtg taken out in 2001.

The sickness and unemployment bit was called tmmp and came out in separate direct debit to halifax ireland ltd

Theres a gd mortgage guru on this board - dunstonh who might be able to advise you better than me

Yes its building contents as I had mortgage with them, ppi and building and contents from 1989

I haven't claimed for miss selling as I did claim in 2001/03 I think although I did get told at the time I needed it and have mortgage with them from late 1989 until earlier 2007

I doubt anyone could claim mis-selling on Building & Contents insurance, it's hardly PPI.
