Slipped Disc Outrageous Exclusions!

PLEASE HELP, IM DESPERATE!!!
I am trying to get Income Protection Insurance. I am only 26, but I slipped a disc a couple of years ago.
I am not totally fine, having NOT required surgery. My consultant says I am now at no more risk of having problems than any other normal person.
INSURANCE COMPANIES DO NOT AGREE!
No one will insure me without a crazy level of exclusion!!

Basically, I have a slipped disc at the bottom of my spine and because of that any injury or diesease involving any part of my spine, root nerves, discs, surrounding muscles, tendons or ligaments will be covered.
In a nutshell, if I crashed my car and broke my neck, I wouldnt be covered because I have a minor slipped disc at the bottom of my spine. In more extreme circumstances...if I were beheaded I wouldnt be covered because my spine would be involved and I have a slipped disc at the bottom of my spine.

This isnt an exageration, I asked the insurance company that exact question about beheading and they confirmed I would not be covered.

Does anyone know of any companies that will cover backs if you have a slipped disc, or that even will apply more reasonable exclusions. Im happy with exclusions relating to that disc, or even one either side of the injured one.

Or, are there any companies that will do blanket cover regardless of existing conditions?

PLEASE HELP IM DESPERATE!!!

You would be better off getting in touch with a reputable IFA rather than relying on recomendations from a forum. They will have access to most (if not all) of the products on the market and would be better placed to know who has less draconian exclusions...
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Thanks, I have but they dont seem to know. This seems to be across all major insurers and so I was wondering if anyone knows of any specialists. I cant find any googling and neither can my IFA. It seems crazy to me!

The problem insurers have, is they are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

They don't take on the risk, people complain.

If they take on the risk accepting some musculo-skeletal issues but not others there's often no way of establishing the cause of the condition. If your claim is rejected, they are everything that's bad.

The FOS want customers to be told exactly what they can and can't claim for, so the exclusion is to remove any grey areas where opinion may be required.

TBH I'd be surprised if any provider took on a musculo-skeletal risk in the circumstances. My sister in law had the same problem and had the same exclusion with a specialist IP provider.

I've never known anyone to make an income protection claim after being beheaded, regardless of whether they had a slipped disc previously.

No mainstream insurer is likely to offer you standard terms.

With exclusions - they tend to be quite standard and they will be unlikely to vary the terms of each exclusion specifically for the each client.

Edit; Why exactly are you DESPERATE for income protection? I have never, ever had a 26 year old in what you say to be good health ever be DESPERATE for an insurance which statistically has a fairly small chance for paying out.

The only time I have seen people desperate for insurance cover is where they know they are likely to make a claim but obviously to take cover out then would be fraud...
