Distancing yourself from a partner's bad credit

Hi,
Not a question for myself...
I understand that, even if you are married to your partner, your credit files won't be linked unless you have joint financial products together.
I also understand that if you split up from that person you can close your joint accounts and get the financial association removed.
But if you are still with the person (married or otherwise) can you get the financial association removed if you close all joint products?
Thanks,
Jim
