Hi all managed to get ds2 sorted, my dad phoned me about half two and said I'm picking you up in ten minutes get your shoes on. So I sat in the car and showed where to pick him up from. Then arrived back home just after ds1 arrived apparently no clubs on.

My foot has, turned blue and swelled up even more. So had some painkillers, my dad reckons I have broken it because of the bump. He said if he's not working he'll collect both boys from school. So thats a load off my mind. I spoke to the usual company I use, they said the driver would come into reception and collect him and bring straight home. So thats good at, least.

Oh is making food so prob be back on later .

hi VJsmum - my username is my name, well not kittie exactly but close :)

GQ speaking of frozen food, Farmfoods are pretty good and our local one has started selling things in bulk purchases like pop, tea bags etc. They do Sharwoods ready meal currys for 89p I think it was and they are nice if you fancy something exotic lol. They tend to get veggie stuff to trial as well. I've had some bargains on Quorn stuff in the past as they were new products.

    I love food speak :D

:)Thanks for reminding me of FarmFoods, there is one here and I have been in before but tend to forget about it. I must forage further.

Mum is well-pleased with the Aldee award winning washing-up liquid which I read in last August's Which? magazine (in a library near you) had knocked Fairy Liquid from its throne. FL people, you can't make the formula less effective and keep charging top dollar, people tend to notice these things.

Whadda we want? Value for munney! When do we want it? NOW!!

Kezlou glad you managed to get your boys home from school OK. ouch your foot sounds really painful

kittiej thanks for me too about the reminder of farmfoods. I have never been there and really must go and have a look.

VJsmum glad you had a good time at Glastonbury

OH booked tickets for him and ds2 to see Dream Theatre in concert. this will be ds first concert and he will be beyond excited when he gets the ticket on Christmas day:D

GQ we use ald* washing up liquid and find it is as good as FL. I am still working on the washing liquid though as I find it quite runny. for the price though I can probably get used to it!

Another Ald1 convert here, especially the Super Six fruit and veg offers.
And their dry-cured bacon, about a pound a pack cheaper than the equivalent in the big SMs. And their butter and olive spread. And their big bottles of sugar free ginger beer. And their pork and herb sausages. Oh I could go on forever....now, about washing towels. I have read about putting white vinegar in the fabric softener compartment of the washing machine. The white stuff doesn't smell quite so much like the local chippy. And to get the towels soft, apparently you just have to iron them when dry.
That's right, you heard. Ironing towels!!! I am not yet that sad, but might, if I am bored one day, try taking a hot iron to the towels and see if it works.

I don't think I am ever going to be bored enough to iron towels. I do give them a good shake before I hang them up to dry however. That's my concession towards domestic goddess-hood I'm afraid.

I use pink Germolene as moisturiser, and I have really good skin for my age. It's also great as lipsil.

I brushed my teeth with it once, but that was an accident. I'd climbed up Snowdon and I was tired. I only noticed when my tongue started to go numb.

Grocery shopping is becoming a real art form these days. OH's aunty has given me a cookery book from the mid 1940's. I have just started reading the shopping section and the author recommends that you shop every day (this was before everyone had a fridge) but not before checking your pantry to see what you can make with the left overs first. Checking what you can do with your leftovers is still relevant today.

Defrosted a packet of mince yesterday only to find that the mince in the middle was brown and solid. There was also a layer of fat in the bottom of the packet :(. I had to throw it away. Last nights chilli became a veggi chilli and I used the first HG courgettes :).

I had a portion of the chilli for my lunch today and tonight for tea added more peppers, mushrooms another tin of tomatoes and some grilled chopped chipolatas with a couple of teaspoons of smoked paprika. Not sure what to call it but it tasted good and there is enough left for me to take to work for lunch for the next couple of days.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I will try the stalks! For some reason I have thought this was a no no.

My vinegar'd towels are great! Softer than usual and don't smell iffy, but, well just normal.

Nearly 9pm and I have the lamp on :( I can't see my stitches too good. It's a rainy night but still, feels like it's the slippery slope to the month beginning with S.

Fabric conditioner is something I have only very rarely bought as my mum never used it. It is probably nicer for towels to have been rinsed in it but we have managed ok without, just another added expense I think.
My mum did use to iron my terry nappies and I think towels. She ironed my socks and said it helped to keep them clean longer - no idea why???
Me - I iron as little as possible. Most things are fine without an iron once you wear them.

The cost of food is rediculous. When you have cut right back to the bare bones where do you go next? We already have mince meals that by the time I have stretched them and stretched them again have very little actual mince in.

I started the second purse challenge a couple of months ago and that is now starting to reap rewards. It's certainly worth having a look at. Takes some getting your head round but once you get the hang of it helps a lot.
FUDDLE, I saw you sign up but haven't seen you back again. Have you been carrying on with it or given up?

    God bless, Esther x
