Thanks for the heads up on the wildlife prog Sheila, I will be watching that!

If you have a moment and don't mind doing it (and assuming you haven't already of course) would you report your sightings? It's brilliant to hear of them in such numbers, you must be in the migration path this year. I report my sightings on this site:

    http://butterfly-conservation.org/612/migrant-watch.html

but I haven't been lucky enough to see hummingbird hawk moths this year yet! I only ever saw one in my garden, quite a few years ago now.

My bronchitis is improving, I think... one day is good, the next bad. It's annoying!

  • Evening all.

OH got a text saying that he has been paid and it was a simple mess up. The feeling it left us with is.....

We know for sure now that our lifes have to change. There is no other way. So its make do and mend here from now on, It just depends whether you peeps can put up with me asking questions time & time again.

Poppy dog is clearly not worried about today's earlier events. Since coming home she's been so naughty....But lovely.

Thank you for everything you have all done for me & my family. In directly, I would never be able to thank you enough. I hope one day I will be able to assist some of you in wisdom and advice.

Princess, ask away hunny, anything that helps you make life easier. Hugs to Poppy dog, how awful, there are not many bad dogs in my mind just bad owners. the dog that got my cat last week was on a lead but the owner was on a bike - how stupid is that  the dog got away from him and he beat it, that was wrong. I love staffies too they are so loving.

hugs to SQ and kez, you are so thoughtful.

Sheila, is it just me or are there a lot of moths and butterflies this year? I love them , even the ones that decimated my cabbages, I can't be annoyed with them, maybe if slugs were pretty I would feel the same. Last night I went into the greenhouse and there were slugs everywhere

been out for a short trip today, visited a few Cs's in a posher area and got a couple of bargains. I even got an empty toffee jar for 20p - perfect for pasta me thinks. Called in Waitrose just to have a look and picked up some fab whoopsied 4 grain bread as fresh as could be for 19p. It was a bit dearer than Mr T and co but so nice to see how the other half lives. Managed to pick up a pretty dolls rocking crib for £5 which I am going to use on my stall at a craft fair later this month then stash it in case I ever get a grand baby of the girl variety (crossed fingers smiley) Ds and his girly are talking about babies eventually, last big holiday - vegas next month then settling down :T:T

    :) Evening all.

This talk of Staffies reminds me of the commonest dog reported to the council as straying is.....you've guessed it.

We know it's because they're so exuberant that they see an open door at home and vroom! off they go and are half a mile away before the owners have twigged they're gone.

A pal had a rescue Staffy which had been used in dog-fights. Softest dollop you could imagine with human beings but had to be muzzled in public or it'd make unprovoked attacks on other dogs. Very strong jaws.

It's most favourist thing ever was if a human would get hold of it's big stick (a sturdy branch about four feet long) in both hands, let him clamp his jaw in the middle of the stick and then helicopter him by spinning so the dog would fly out horizontally at waist height to the human.

Bonkers. Saw it with my own eyes, tho. Very heavy animal who used to like to jump into my lap for a fuss. To a person accustomed to cats, the weight differential was summat shocking.

I should be making bread and doing the dishes. I am skiving. ;) Tomorrow is another day, apparently, and if it isn't, bread rolls will be the least of my problems.

GINNY........Yes since the hot weather has been here there is a lot more butterflies and bees recorded, thank god we need them to pollinate most our foods........

We seem to live in a very warm dry climate here on the East coast, very little rain , thats one good reason we have so many insects, creatures here , this year is brilliant ,some insects ive seen this year on my plants as sent me in to the summerhouse to get my wildlife information book out, as some ive never seen before, interesting though if you like wildlife .:D........... Princes- gentle hugs to Poppy and hope she is ok. Another closet staffie admirer here (although have to 'fess my fave breed is a collie) Many many years ago I foster my then BF's brother's staffie for a while and he was the softest, biggest dollop going - we always said that from outside the house he sounded ferocious but if a burglar risked coming in the doggy would happily le him walk off with the telly provided he had played tug of war with his rubber ring for 10 minutes first!

Been to the private view of Art in the Pen - a fantastic show of original artists and craftspeople's work in Skipton. Both parents are exhibiting this year so they had loads of tickets so took some friends and gave the other tickets to a family down the street who also do loads of craft stuff. There was a print I was really taken with - it was in 'my' colours, the purples, violets and deep blues that I comfortably end up working in more often than not and had a lovely quirky quality - will have to see what our resident art expert (DD) thinks tomorrow!

    Take care all - X
  • Morning all.

Up early today for no reason other than at 5:40am poppy wanted to play silly !!!!!!s. Yawn!!

Today is a positive day. I've had enough of feeling sorry for myself. I understand that there is others with much more serious issues atm.
This morning i'm dragging OH to the local C/S for a browse. It makes a nice change to do something different.

    Once we're back its:-
    * Looking for some chest of drawers as I still haven't replaced our broken ones.

    *Get the ironing pile reduced.

*Get some top up shopping in.

    * Clean both fish tanks out.

Off for a morning cuppa and to get the last wash load out on the line before the rain comes. xx

Princess get yourself on Pinterest ('tis brilliant fun!) and have a look at all the repurposed furniture ideas. I saw one the week that had got all the drawers attached to one another (drawer front to the left, then next up the drawer front was to the right. That's how the wood of the drawer inners sat flush) then they had painted/wallpapered the insides of the drawers to funky it up. They ended up with a very tall shelving unit. I love it and will be doing that if and when the times comes.

PS I am not to be held responsible for the hours lost drooling over crafty makes on there alright? ;)

Well done for waking up in a positive mind frame :)
