Fuddle you mentioned that you like Kerrygold butter - they now do a spreadable version, I noticed it in Lidl today but I didn't see the price, sorry.

Glycerine gets out ballpoint pen ink really well but the only time(fortunately) I had to do it, it was a relatively fresh stain so I don't know if it would work on something that had been through the washing machine
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Do any of the older MSErs without kids at home, still do the tree and the decorations?

There is just me and the dog so no I don't bother. I put up the Christmas cards but that's it. However I think I may be related very closely to Scrooge so maybe shouldn't listen to me lol

Yikes Ivyleaf, that's a bit beyond the pale. I was tempted to pop into the supermarket on the way home from hospital (just to check reductions you understand) but restrained myself :rotfl:

The Cake - why is it the only thing I have *ever* found lurking at the back of a cupboard is a mouldy part baked loaf?? I really miss English chocolate oranges. It's an orange, part of your 5 a day ;)

NurseMaggie, I bought in a lot of things and put some meals in the freezer in preparation of surgery. My husband does however eat like a horse and it's a small freezer, so we were running lower on options. And after the hideous campbells tinned potato and leek soup the other day (looked like cat vomit, tasted vile, couldn't eat it) which had me eating 2 slices of bread for dinner, a McD's another day and 2 lots of dominos pizza on other occasions (:money: had some vouchers from survey site, I got 2 pizzas each time for 3 quid) I had had enough! As for my surgeons advice - do what you want when you feel ready (I think he's accounting only for wussy people). This was followed by my discharge nurse saying to take it easy a couple of weeks and no heavy lifting for 6 weeks :rotfl:

Mardatha, we're not older, but have no kids and I'm debating whether to decorate this year, we usually do.

Monnagran, I hope your mincemeat is ok... because I have a jar of last years in the cupboard too to use :o

We're off to lunch at MILs today, which will be delightfully effortless. Gotta love my MIL.

Mardatha are you trying to get away with not decorating? My grandad used to go way over the top, it was like a grotto but he loved it. I have gotten much worse and do more now than ever, but I think in part that is due to being in our own home.
I think you need something up to remind you its Christmas and remember the family times gone.

SDG hope you are feeling better soon,

Softstuff - please take more care :)

Well my day just went from bad to worse, DS16 needed collecting much earlier than expected, DS10 school assembly was awful, Weather was awful making traffic yuck and I had to go beg GP for inhaler as DD8 came home from school with a note saying she needs one for the residentia on Monday!! Kids were manic and OH is sulking because I have volunteered him to help set up the fayre tomorrow, I figured I had done my bit he should do his, its rare he is available for these events.

I did manage to call past Ike@ after collecting DS16 and buy a wooden dolls bed, for the kitties! There was an article today about Japanese people using them so I decided to give it a go. Its been interesting so far :)
  • MAR if you don't want a tree there's no rule that says you have to have one. If you don't want an indoor tree do you have a small tree or bush you could put outside lights on? or even decorate an outside tree for the birds with peanut strings, fat balls, mealie worms in jars with wire handles, apples for the blackbirds, might make a nice alternative?

Oh, Quick Q again. Erm any OS tips for getting ink out of a work tunic? 60% polyester and 40% cotton. I washed it with my pen in the pocket :o

I think Victorian Farm suggested soaking in milk before washing
    Must use my stash up!
