I would heat what we needed as well fuddle,

I have done 200 portion of cake and that is it. My kitchen looks like a war zone and I have run out of eggs and flour!

Dd8 is away with school for 3 days next week, so my next task is washing and packing, am slightly behind as the inevitable happened this morning and ds16 bus didn't arrive, he had a meltdown and panicked so I ended up dropping the girls not far from dd8 school very early and then taking ds10 with me to drop ds16 at college. He got here in time and was much calmer but it meant Ds10 was 8 minutes later than normal. I am not overly bothered as currently he is only doing what he wants when he is there and not getting taught anything, so he won't have missed much. It just put me behind and getting to catch up by the time I got home.

Asking you to provide 200 cakes is outrageous Kidcat! I hope they are at least paying for the ingredients. It's the same old thing though, if you want something done ask a busy person.
Long 2 hr dog walk today, poor dog is knackered.

Well new washing machine installed and doing it's stuff. The washing sunk foul after 4 days in the washing machine. I hope this one lasts a lot longer though I doubt it, it was only £299 for a Bosch?

worse things to be without than a washer, heating during a cold snap comes to mind.

Agree kidkat it is a cheek asking you to do it all.

Sorry you have been ill SDG3100 glad you are on the mend

I used to do that possession, used to holiday where we used to live on Anglesey I used to borrow dogs and wear them out two or three a day.

    Kidkat - you're a saint!

Gosh it's turned cold here - it's so fresh and lovely. Popped to the tip to get rid of more stuff I've been unearthing from the garage and the loft in my mission to declutter.....then came back via in-laws whos builders have been saving all the wood from the building for us....filled the car to the brim and will have to go back for the rest - got it home, sorted into burnable size and chopping size, just finished when Mr across the road Neighbour dragged a huge builders bag across onto the drive and said "a bit more for you"....loads more wood and all in small chunks so no cutting required!! Should be enough for a weeks worth of burning from all that lot - I do love free fuel.

Salvaged a door from In-laws place too as it looked too handy to dump - it's just the right size for a doorway in the kitchen that used to have a sliding door on, we did away with it in the refit and didn't bother with a door as we didn't think we needed one but it will help keep the hall/kitchen warmer....I've never hung a door before so I shall be taking some crash courses (via youtube) later and set to it tomorrow. Wish me luck!

The curtains are now blue with bits of pink and gold glitter sticking out! Will see what they look like when they are dry.

Synchronicity, and a chocolate orange ....
I have just experienced something Very Odd! A few days ago I turned out one of our kitchen cupboards, and lurking at the back was an unopened chocolate orange, which I remembered was a Christmas present to me last year. It must have disappeared behind stuff, as we do not usually leave chocolate uneaten for very long in this house.... so, as today is particularly and horribly cold and wet, I have done the only sensible thing: taken to the sofa under a blanket, with a good book. The only thing missing, obviously, was chocolate, so I turned to the chocolate orange. Thought I better check its Best Before date and guess what it is? Today! Exactly, to the day. How weird is that, of all the dates? So ....I may see you all later. May be feeling a bit sick, but feel I must do my duty, in the interest of avoiding food waste. xx

Bloody knackered, it's my own fault. A week out of surgery and a visit to an open home then a grocery shop all seemed like a great idea at the time... in my defence, I didn't lift anything heavy :rotfl:

This reminded me of an exhausted new mother I met looking absolutely "wiped out" in Sainsbury's. She and her husband had thought it would be a great idea to do the weekly shop on her way home from hospital after a C-Section

Kidcat, asking you for an entire bake sale worth of cakes... are you sure it was the PTA and not the PITA?

    :rotfl: re PITA

SDG nice to see you :) Hope you feel better soon! I've got a cold and am trying to convince myself i haven't iykwim

Oh, oh now that is a bit of a wonderous find eh? If I had found such thing I would be jumping skywards with a grin plastered all over my face. It is weird about the date but eat, relax and enjoy. :D

Thanks for the feedback re: softening butter. I have stored them mentally and will look closely at a solution come Monday. I have the working weekend to cope with on top of more antics from mother. A night of kiddie/husband cuddles, crochet socks and hot chocolate for me.

Oh, Quick Q again. Erm any OS tips for getting ink out of a work tunic? 60% polyester and 40% cotton. I washed it with my pen in the pocket :o

Do any of the older MSErs without kids at home, still do the tree and the decorations?
  • Yes!!! it wouldn't be Christmas without a tree but we won't put it up until Christmas eve when we decorate the house with the ggreenery and candles. I'm just older, not grown up!
